Tina Iler, LCSWR

“I am a psychotherapist currently in private practice  in New Paltz and New York City.  I provide a safe confidential space to support individuals using a strengths based approach offering healing, hope and compassion. My practice is non-binary and LGBTQ+  affirming. Together we work to manage the complexities and struggles that life can bring as well as develop useful coping skills to enhance and support emotional regulation.
I have extensive experience in providing outpatient mental health services in a public clinic setting,  treating a wide variety of individuals in both an individual and group setting setting with a specialty in co-occurring disorders.. My experience includes working in a NYS residential Substance Abuse facility, a Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program, as a medical social worker with hospice, in a domestic violence shelter and in an inpatient mental health unit. As an Intensive case manager, I worked with homeless and high risk forensic clients.   I have been trained in CBT by the Beck Institute and by the Linehan Institute in DBT.  I have extensive training in and am passionate about Motivational Interviewing. My interests include Buddhist Psychology and the neurobiology of the brain. I am currently enrolled in The Trauma Research Foundation’s Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies.  I have been a trainer, developer, consultant and contributor for Best Practice Trainers, Inc. since 2013 specializing in providing participant friendly and useful clinical trainings in MI and Co-occurring Disorders. My most recent in-person workshop, Essential Motivational Interviewing Practice for Substance Use Disorders was given in February, 2018 in New Paltz, NY on the SUNY campus. Since that time, I have been providing live in person webinars on various topics through Best Practice Trainers, Inc. Currently I work with Connections Counseling as a consultant, clinician and trainer.”

Along with all other Connections Counseling staff, Tina is working exclusively remotely during the COVID-19 crisis. As of November, 2022, Tina is maintaining existing clients, but no longer taking new clients.
