Protecting and Advocating for Immigrants in a Time of Change [ENGLISH]
2.0 CEs | $20 | George Ramos, LMHC, Ph.D.
Join Dr. George Ramos as he discusses performing mental health evaluations for those who are immigrants. Many immigrants need a mental health evaluation to get treatment or to improve or verify their immigration status. This 2-hour-long beginning to intermediate level presentation encourages clinicians to understand the current situation for immigrants, and demonstrates ways to help those who are caught in the changing political environment.
Participants will be able to:
- Identify 2 reasons why a mental health practitioner might be asked to perform an Immigration Mental Health Evaluation
- List two assessment tools that are used to give a mental health evaluation to an immigrant
- List one way in which the status “undocumented” may come to be applied to an immigrant
- List two types of visas that may preclude the removal of undocumented immigrants from the U.S.
